Brave
Chromium compatibility with built-in privacy
Overview
Brave is a privacy-focused Chromium browser with ad and tracker blocking built in. It keeps high Chrome extension compatibility while Shields handles fingerprinting resistance, HTTPS upgrades, and cookie controls.
Private Window with Tor enables one-click anonymous browsing over Tor. IPFS support, Brave Search integration, and Brave Talk (video calls) extend a privacy-respecting ecosystem around the browser.
Chromium dependency remains, but Google Sync and Sign-in are removed in favor of encrypted Brave Sync. It is the smoothest privacy browser migration path if you rely on Chrome extensions.
Scores
Google Chrome — comparison
No Google account integration and ad/tracker blocking is on by default. Extension compatibility matches Chrome. You drop Google Sync, Timeline, and similar data collection paths while minimizing migration friction.
