Your first week: start de-Googling with zero risk

Keep your Google account. Start with reversible changes—search, browser, and passwords only.

1 week For: Non-technical users who want to try first
  1. Day 1: Change your search engine

Install Firefox or Brave. Set default search to DuckDuckGo or Brave Search. For one week, avoid Google Search on purpose.

💡 If results disappoint, use `!g query` in DuckDuckGo to fall back to Google temporarily.

  2. Days 2–3: Set up a password manager

Create a Bitwarden account. Export passwords from Chrome as CSV → import into Bitwarden. Use Bitwarden-generated passwords for new sign-ups.

💡 Write your master password on paper and store it securely. If you lose it, recovery is impossible.

  3. Days 4–5: Review Google Activity

Visit myactivity.google.com. Set Location History (Timeline), YouTube history, and Web & App Activity to auto-delete.

  4. Days 6–7: Reflect

Note what felt inconvenient—search quality, password flow. If things work, move on to the email migration guide.
